The Primary objective of the course is to introduce the user to basic personal computer operations.  Basic knowledge of personal computer fundamentals, experience in working within the Microsoft Windows environment, and experience in using a mouse

Prerequisites

The course materials, lectures, and lab exercises are in English. To benefit fully from the instruction, students need an understanding of the English language.

Objectives

After completing this course, students will be able to:

  • Start Windows

  • Choose a new desktop style

  • Modify the taskbar

  • Move a window

  • Resize a window

  • Shut down Windows

  • Select commands in a Windows application

  • Use Microsoft Word

  • Use Microsoft Excel

  • Run two or more applications simultaneously

  • Use My Computer and Windows Explorer

  • Manage files and folders

  • Change the system date and time

  • Change the screen display

  • Modify keyboard settings

  • Use the Paint program

  • Use the Quick View feature

  • Place (remove) a shortcut on (from) the desktop and Start menu

  • Use Internet Explorer

  • Perform disk management operations

  • Use Windows Help system

  • Use basic MS-DOS commands

  • Use the MS-DOS Help system
