Description

This class session provides an in-depth review of NEC major calculations.  This overview will include motor circuit & over current calculations, single family dwelling service calculations (standard & optional), 2-family dwelling service calculations (standard & optional), multi-family dwelling service calculations (standard & optional), commercial service calculations (standard & optional), conduit fill, box fill and conductor ampacities.  The NEC, associated NEC articles, calculation examples as noted in Annex D of the NEC and the exam prep book noted below will be closely followed for instructional purposes in this segment of the course. 

This course is for persons in the electrical trade who are preparing for the administrator / master electrician exam.  However, this course is still open to other persons in the electrical trade who wish to enhance their knowledge of electrical calculations.

The material covered in this class is similar in scope to that which is found in the third part of the administrator exam.

  • Ugly’s Electrical Reference Manual, 2005 Edition
  • WAC 296-46B, Electrical Safety Standards, Administration, and Installation
  • RCW 19.28, Electricians and Electrical Installation
